Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSOED) provides top-tier teacher education programs characterized by a comprehensive approach aimed at nurturing proficient teachers, teacher educators, and educational leaders. These graduates are equipped to make significant contributions to educational practices that are both impactful and life-enriching. It has established a belief that there is a pressing need for a paradigm shift in educational methodologies to cultivate adept and forward-thinking educational professionals.
The School of Education recognized the demand for a One Year M.Ed. program in School Counseling and initiated it in August 2023. As the initiation progressed, stakeholders, particularly participating students, school leaders, and municipal educational officers, suggested the need for an extension of the program's duration. This extension aims to cultivate specialized graduates in school counseling. Following the suggestions from multistakeholder needs assessment, the proposal addresses the rationale to add a Two-Year M.Ed. program in School Counseling. The proposal outlines the eligibility criteria for prospective students, the program's structure, course details, and assessment methods. Aligned with Kathmandu University's mission, the program aims to prepare individuals to excel as professional, culturally adept, and ethical school counselors across diverse settings. Our programs prioritize service learning, social justice, and the application of theory and evidence-based practices in both academic coursework and practical training.
